While we’re still not gathering socially for everyone’s safety, that doesn’t mean we have to skip celebrating New Year’s Eve. After all, who’s not more than a little excited to say goodbye to 2020? Local restaurants have come up with creative at-home kits complete with all the merriment to ensure a festive, stress-free, and safe night is had by all. Happy New Year!

In lieu of its annual New Year’s Eve prix fixe dinner, The Lodge at Torrey Pines is offering an exquisite “cocktail party” takeout menu with an array of indulgent NYE bites. The menu, which can be ordered for two guests and up, includes lobster tail, chilled mussels, house-made pâté, caviar, a variety of fine cheeses, lamb kofta kebab, and more, including a selection of fine wines to pair with the NYE spread. For the first time in its 14-year history, Addison and Chef/Director William Bradley introduce takeaway service with the Addison at Home series. Available for pickup Thursday through Sunday nights, the four-course menu showcases local, seasonal ingredients informed by the Michelin-starred restaurant’s new California Gastronomy ethos while also finding inspiration outside of Addison’s traditional tasting menu format. Chef Bradley and team offer different menu themes each week with unexpected surprises that nod to the San Diego and SoCal food culture. Puesto Mexican Artisan Kitchen & Bar is amplifying their offerings for an exclusive New Year’s Eve menu handcrafted by their acclaimed team that is sure to dazzle. The multi-course meal, complete with cocktails, was created by chefs Ian Tenzer (previously of Michelin-starred Eleven Madison Park) and Erik Aronow (previously of renowned LA restaurants Republique and Destroyer,) along with Bar & Spirits Director Beau du Bois (previously of Michelin-starred The Restaurant at Meadowood). The trio is using the special menu, dubbed Puesto in Casa, to play with ingredients and menu items that may debut in 2021. Menu highlights include Duck Confit en Mole Negro, Truffled Elote, and Oyster Mushrooms with Browned Butter, Mustard, and Salsa Verde, and a martini made with gin, Amontillado Sherry, and bee pollen. Each meal, designed for two people, costs $100 for the full menu, or $150 for the full menu with a beverage pairing of two cocktails to enjoy while preparing the meal, and champagne to accompany the meal.
