As a resident of La Jolla, I am fortunate to be able to enjoy a wide array of health and wellness offerings and other spaces related to overall well-being. I’ll share a few of my favorite spots here, in a virtual walk through town.

One of the most visited establishments for healthy food, yoga, and gatherings is Trilogy Sanctuary. The space is located on Girard Avenue with a large rooftop where, apart from practicing yoga and other techniques, you can also enjoy a sunset view while savoring a delicious chocolate-avocado cake, one of my favorite items on their menu. Trilogy is proud to exclude dairy, sugar, and gluten from their meals. This is my best friend’s favorite place to eat in La Jolla, so naturally, I just took her there for her birthday. 858.633.3893, trilogysanctuary.com

If you are looking for another gorgeous space to sit and relax while you enjoy a delicious meal, consider the Green Door Café, located next door to Trilogy Sanctuary. Founder and CEO Martin Hall prides himself on growing his own food, and his menu is filled with plant-based dishes. I learned about his tasty fare at a farmers market before he opened his location in La Jolla. And if you want to surprise your guests with delectable, health conscious food, Hall also offers catering for parties. 858.291.8886, greendoorcafe.org

Not too far away on Silverado Street is Jay and May Complete Health. I had the pleasure of meeting Jay and May Hoehn at a local church. Jay has been in La Jolla most of his life, and the couple share a boutique fitness studio where they offer personalized semi-private and private training. May also owns a second location in Del Mar. 858.922.8561, jayandmay.com

If you’d like to experience a different kind of yoga, Prana Yoga Center, also on Silverado Street, has classes where you will experience yoga in a more “structural” way. The class I tried, taught by Alison McLean, DPT, covered the yoga flow in a way that felt safe and protective of the body parts that need the most support, while toning muscles with the instructor’s expert ability to give feedback to each of the attendees. 858.456.2806, prana-yoga.com

Lastly, there would not be total health if relaxing and feeling good about your body didn’t have a part in it. I discovered Bellemani Nail Salon seven years ago when I first moved to San Diego from New York. I was looking for a non-toxic nail salon where I would feel comfortable receiving treatments. The staff at this salon on Girard Avenue is super friendly and they care about your needs and wants. Lately, I have been enjoying their TV screenings featuring an Asian cooking show that not only relaxes me deeper into my chair but inspires me to eat healthy food, too. 858.456.2191

Now that you’re hungry, shall we meet back at Trilogy Sanctuary? Ana Nieto
