Heal the Earth has launched “Adopt an Avocado Tree,” a first-of-its-kind program in San Diego designed to support local avocado farmers while connecting consumers directly to the source of their food. Inspired by similar models in Europe, the initiative allows people to adopt a tree at Vista’s Wild Acres Farm and receive fresh, organic avocados delivered to their home, along with farm updates, invitations to on-site events, and a personalized connection to their tree. The program also supports regenerative farming practices focused on soil health, biodiversity, and sustainable water use. Created by Kitchens for Good founder Chuck Samuelson, the initiative aims to help preserve San Diego County’s shrinking avocado industry through a community-driven, direct-to-consumer model.
