Admittedly, at the beginning of the pandemic, I distracted myself by indulging my whims with rich food, a healthy supply of cannabis products, and at-home wine and cocktails. That got old after a few months, so I decided to channel my nervous energy into a self-care routine instead. Now, I’m still indulging but with health and wellness as the focus. These are three of my favorite locally-made offerings to get your at-home New Year off on the right foot.

Luna Volta’s Nova full-spectrum CBD oil is a daily supplement that I take one dropper of every morning to start my day on an even keel. A regular dose of cannabinoids, such as CBD, is said to help keep the body’s endocannabinoid system in homeostasis, allowing for better management of pain, inflammation, and anxiety. Founder Kayla Clements decided to start the company in 2019 after realizing she didn’t trust the quality of the CBD oils she found on the market. lunavolta.com

High Ranch Farm in Lakeside grows low-THC hemp flower, which can be used for industrial purposes like creating textiles or CBD-rich products, and the production of which was federally legalized thanks to the passage of 2018’s Farm Bill. The company recently introduced its smokable hemp pre-rolled joints and flower to local shops, where it is sold at less than 0.3 percent THC. In other words, it’s big on an overall calm feeling, but absent the high that smoking regular cannabis would produce. highranchfarm.com
