The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego has welcomed Steven M. Strauss as Board President and offered a fond farewell and gratitude to Dr. Paul E. Jacobs for his years of service. A La Jolla resident, Strauss is a third-generation San Diegan and the son of Iris and Matthew Strauss, well-known philanthropists and art collectors. The newly reopened Iris and Matthew Strauss Galleries are named in recognition of their enduring patronage of the museum. “I am honored to follow the leadership of Paul Jacobs and my father before him to continue the mission of MCASD as a world class destination for contemporary art in its splendid expanded and renovated museum,” says Steven, who is a partner and first chair trial lawyer in Cooley LLP’s global litigation department. He is also Executive Vice President at MC Strauss Co., having joined the company in 2021, and his arts involvement includes a term as President of La Jolla Playhouse, where he is a current trustee, and MCASD Board Chair from 2013-2017. Also joining the MCASD Board as trustees are four active community volunteers: Celia Henely, Anna Haudenschild Meier, James Robbins, and Tom Rosso. mcasd.org
