Make room.

That’s the directive from Design Within Reach this season. The Westfield UTC store is unveiling four new and reissued pieces that deliver design cred and modern silhouettes.

Chair enthusiasts are clamoring for Mies van der Rohe’s groundbreaking Tugendhat Chair (1929) reintroduced from the Knoll archives. Last produced in 1948, the sophisticated lounge chair delivers comfort and versatility with its sleek cantilevered base, distinctive leather strap back, and plush seat and back cushions. Origin story: van der Rohe dreamt up the chair for the Villa Tugendhat, a World Heritage-listed house in the Czech Republic in tandem with Lilly Reich.

The chair masters the technical precision and artistic intention that came to define the Bauhaus aesthetic.

Another reissued throne: the Kettelhut Chair by Danish designer Finn Juhl in 1951. Juhl had the mindset of a sculptor when shaping his furniture, which was in contrast to his modernist colleagues, who favored a more streamlined, minimalist style. Juhl sought to design furniture with movement, form, and life.

It’s all captured here in this mid-century piece, which cuts a striking silhouette. The Kettelhut’s broad, angular armrests are masterfully balanced by an embracing frame made from FSC-certified American walnut and European oak.

Australia might be best known for its stable of leading ladies in Hollywood. Ellison Studios, a Sydney-based design studio, has garnered its own global reputation for a distinctly Australian aesthetic. Modern and playful, the Lull Bed (2023) boasts starlet-level nostalgia while maintaining down-to-earth simplicity and sustainable cred.

With its cloud-like frame and luxe upholstery, Ellison Studios brings a ’70s spirit to the contemporary bedroom with Lull’s generous proportions and contrasting textures. Its frame and legs are upholstered in a choice of lush fabrics, including velvety Sandon made from 100-percent GRS-certified recycled plastic bottles.

Made in the U.S., the high-designed bed features fully upholstered disc feet to underscore the softness of its silhouette. Elegant yet laid-back, Lull brings warmth and come-hither comfort to the bedroom.

Adaptable. That’s the main feature of the Perron Pillo Sofa, featuring modular components that can be countlessly combined and reconfigured as needs and locations change. Engineered to offer lounge-like support within the comforting familiarity of crisply tailored pillows, the Perron Pillo Sofa is an invitation to curl up. It was designed by French Canadian aesthete Willo Perro

Made in Italy, there are two depths to match the size and function of your space. “Standard” is smaller and more upright, while “Deep” offers a more lounge-like seating.
