Ciao Bella
A bellini isn’t just for sipping, it’s for shopping. Bellini’s Antique Italia in the Cedros Design District offers an exquisite selection of 17th-20th century antiques, treasures from the past to complement the contemporary homes of today. A fifth generation antiques dealer from Milan, by way of Florence, Jacopo Bellini and his American-born wife April say the role of antiques has evolved over the years. Customers aren’t buying entire collections; but, rather, individual pieces to enhance their eclectic spaces. “Even one piece in a modern, contemporary home adds a little bit of warmth, not to mention history,” says Jacopo. An 18th century Venetian walnut dresser, for example, would look right at home in a modern day bedroom. The store also offers Murano chandeliers, Venetian gilt mirrors, Tuscan painted furniture and pottery, and old world frescos, as well as professional restoration services. The couple calls investing in antiques the “highest form of recycling.” Bellissima! (858.509.9399, www.belliniimports.com) ANDREA NAVERSEN
