L’Auberge Del Mar is showing guests how to live like a local with a new series of experiences designed to immerse visitors in the Southern California lifestyle. This spring, the hotel has launched the first in the series with “Get Wet,” an exclusive surf program that can be combined with any package or room rate.
“There’s something special about feeling like a local when on vacation,” says Bob Harter, director of sales and marketing. “Surfing plays a huge role in the Del Mar lifestyle and brings the community together. With Get Wet, our guests can easily connect with locals at one of the area’s most popular breaks that happens to be just steps from the hotel.”
For Get Wet, L’Auberge Del Mar has partnered with locally-owned Fulcrum Surf School. When making a reservation, guests are able to select the Get Wet add-on and reserve a private, semi-private, or group surf lesson. By choosing the Get Wet program, guests receive exclusive benefits such as an extended lesson and a personal surf coach to greet them at the hotel and escort them to the beach. Guests also eliminate the hassle of having to arrange and transport surf gear, as a surfboard and wetsuit will be prepped and waiting for them on the beach. Participants will also be coached on the various area surf spots to try on their own.
When booking online, guests can select any rate code or package that they would like to book. In the second step of the online booking process, they can select the Get Wet surf lesson. Each lesson is an hour and a half and includes surfboard and wetsuit rental. Private lessons start at $95 per person; group lessons start at $75 per person. A personalized photo package can be booked for an additional fee. (800.245.9757, www.laubergedelmar.com)
