Savor the Warmth of Mexico

Published

Diane Powers’ newest dining establishment, Casa Sol y Mar, recently opened in the Del Mar Highlands Town Center. With décor and fare that reflects the true spirit of Mexico, the menu emphasizes flavor and freshness, and offers a large selection of regional entrees made from scratch, including award-winning seafood recipes that have been in the family for decades.

“Our philosophy is to offer great value and a delightful Mexican dining experience,” says Powers. “This includes memorable flavors, abundant selections, high quality and fresh ingredients, and a spirited, authentic environment that captures the essence of Mexican traditions.”

The new restaurant seats up to 300 people both inside and out, and is comprised of a cantina and dining room, the former with custom barstools upholstered with colorful wool fabrics hand-woven by Zapotec artisans in Oaxaca, Mexico, and the latter complemented by reclaimed wood tables framed with black hammered iron. To keep things authentic, Casa Sol y Mar will entertain guests with mariachi performances Wednesday to Sunday evenings. (858.792.4100, www.casasolymar.com)    RYAN THOMAS
