Amici’s Ristobar
Posted on July 2018
Even after an extensive facelift, some familiar faces are still at the heart of Amici’s Ristobar, the reimagining of Dolce at the Highlands, where Chef Rhoelle Gabriel presents a menu that’s big on Southern Italian inspiration. While seasonal, California produce remains key to her food’s flavor and vibrancy, and therefore Amici’s dishes remain approachable. Veal Milanese, mixed seafood served cartoccio-style (steamed in parchment paper), and eggplant Parmigiana tucked in a jar with Italian flag-emulating burrata, pesto, and rich tomato sauce hug the palate, feed the soul, and drive home a casual, neighborhood vibe along with exposed brick, soft lighting, and black-and-white murals. Amici translates to “friend,” a nod to a fallen but forever beloved Dolce founder, Anthony Smith, whose business partners and staff hope their new offering helps convey their enduring, deep-seeded fellowship. 858.847.2740, amicisristobar.com Brandon Hernández
