Padres Pedal the Cause hosts virtual “A World Without Cancer Day”

In an effort to bring the community together and raise money for cancer research on June 20, A World Without Cancer Day, Padres Pedal the Cause is hosting a virtual celebration and asking individuals to join in on their #Do20Give20 campaign by being “active for 20,” whether running or walking 20 minutes, cycling 20 miles, or doing 20 repetitions and donating $20 to help accelerate cures. One-hundred percent of funds raised will go to cancer research.

“A World Without Cancer Day” is a charitable initiative being led by Padres Pedal the Cause, one of San Diego’s leading cancer fundraising organizations that donates 100 percent of fundraising to collaborative cancer research teams among premier research organizations in the United States, all of which are located in San Diego. They include Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health, the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, and Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego.

“A World Without Cancer is a vision that unites us all.  June 20 is an important day for the San Diego Community to come together and take action against cancer by donating support to premier research organizations in our own backyard who are leading the charge,” says Anne Marbarger, Executive Director for Padres Pedal the Cause. “While these organizations dedicate resources and energy to respond to COVID-19, we must do our part to ensure they have resources and support to continue accelerating cures for cancer.”

Since its inception, Padres Pedal has donated more than $13 million and funded 62 local projects that are moving cancer research and treatments forward. It is the nonprofit’s goal that the research funded will lead to increased survivorship and ultimately, cures for cancer.   • Or sign up for one of three live, virtual classes with partner, local studios:
    • Yoga Six — 8am PST
    • Spin With Kellie Sullivan, cancer fighter — 9am PST
    • Orange Theory Fitness — 10:30am PST
