Cardiff Dog Days Of Summer Fest

Published

The fastest-growing street fair for dogs and dog lovers in Southern California is set for Saturday, August 13, from 10am-3pm, on Aberdeen Drive and Newcastle Avenue in Cardiff-by-the-Sea. The sixth annual Cardiff Dog Days of Summer, hosted by the Cardiff 101 Main Street, is expected to draw more than 6,000 four-legged friends, fans, and family members.

“They say every dog has his day, and this year it’s August 13,” says event chair Brad Maassen. “The community and their canine friends come together for contests, games, one fabulous silent auction, vendors, and, of course, food. It’s a great way to see old friends and make new ones of the two- and four-legged variety.”

Highlights of this year’s Cardiff Dog Days of Summer event include the Purina Rally to Rescue Pro Plan Ambassador Program, a special performance by celebrity dog trainer Melissa Heeter and the Purina Incredible Dog Team, an obstacle course sponsored by K-9 Connection, a Kid Zone with a bird show and games, silent auction (including a Park City, Utah getaway) and contests including Cutest Puppy, Best Dressed Dog, and Best Kisser, to name a few. There will be music, vendor booths, and the County Animal Services Rabies, Vaccination, License and Microchip Clinic will be in attendance, too.  This year’s event will again open with The Blessing of the Animals by Drupon Samten Rinpoche of the Tibetan Meditation Center of Escondido.

Proceeds benefit local animal charities and Cardiff 101 Main Street, which sponsors other community events throughout the year. (www.cardiffdogdaysofsummer.com)
