Words Alive featured Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient Isabel Allende as the keynote speaker at the 12th annual Author’s Luncheon. Allende discussed her new novel, The Japanese Lover, a multigenerational love story that sweeps from San Francisco in the present day to Poland and the United States during World War II. UC San Diego’s Dean of Arts and Humanities Seth Lerer presented the conversation with Allende. Words Alive changes the lives of children and families by fostering a love of reading.
