The inaugural Dia de Muertos Celebration, presented by This Is About Humanity and Tijuana Sin Hambre, was chaired by Yolanda S. Walther-Meade and Maru Riqué de Vargas, with the generous support of Charo García-Acevedo as the venue host in Rancho Santa Fe. The event brought together renowned chefs from both sides of the border for a unique culinary experience led by Chef Adria Marina. The charitable evening also welcomed the participation of actor and TV personality Jaime Camil as emcee and featured a spectacular folkloric dance performance that paid tribute to Day of the Dead traditions. To date, Tijuana Sin Hambre has provided 3,100 daily meals to 19 shelters in Tijuana, equating to 1 million meals per year. Funds raised will go toward the purchase of a refrigerated truck to rescue perishable food and continue making strides in the fight against hunger.
