Serving Seniors kicked off its second half-century of service to San Diego’s low-income and homeless seniors with a concert featuring Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitar legend Don Felder, formerly of the Eagles, to celebrate the organization’s 50th Anniversary Sunshine Gala. Longtime Serving Seniors supporters and San Diego philanthropists Gary and Mary West served as honorary committee chairs. Serving Seniors’ past board chair and community leader Molly Cartmill served as the steering committee chair. The event also recognized Serving Seniors’ President and CEO Paul Downey, who celebrated 25 years with the organization in 2020. A leader in senior advocacy and programming since 1970, Serving Seniors has created an innovative model of comprehensive services including nutritious meals, housing, health and social services, and lifelong learning opportunities to hundreds of seniors in need.
