Wine Women & Shoes 2020

Voices for Children held its ninth annual Wine Women & Shoes event May 1-3 in a virtual format. The event was led by returning co-chairs Patricia Brutten and Marina Marrelli, who set the tone for the fundraiser in a welcome video where they shared, “Though we may not be able to gather in one place for this event, the pandemic cannot stop us from lifting up these youth. Children in foster care need a caring adult more than ever.” Throughout the weekend, Voices for Children staff hosted Facebook Live videos, joined by current Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers who shared their experiences supporting kids in foster care.

Community members tuned in to hear about the organization’s CASA program, ways to support the event, and for auction updates from auctioneer Clint Bell. Through the silent auction, live auction, marketplace shopping, Fund-A-CASA donations, and a generous $100,000 match from the Brutten Family Foundation, the event raised more than $250,000, which will help to provide one-on-one advocacy to San Diego County foster children. Here, we share highlights from this fashionably philanthropic event over the years.
