Best Defense Foundation Walk
Standing before an immaculate World War II Jeep with Big Band music playing in the background, 94-year-old Gilbert Nadeau and fellow veteran, 95-year-old Andre Chappaz, were in Cardiff to lead a virtual 5K walk sponsored by the Best Defense Foundation in commemoration of the 76th anniversary of D-Day, June 6, 1944. “I just want people to know these guys are still here and what they did for our country,” says former Charger and all-pro linebacker Donnie Edwards, who founded Best Defense in 2006. Among its many programs, Best Defense organizes trips to the battlefields of Asia and Europe, enabling World War II veterans to revisit the places they fought for and where they risked their lives for our country.
