Local resident Susan Leonard reunites with the legendary Beach Boys at the Del Mar Fairgrounds

The Beach Boys performed at the Del Mar Fairgrounds to a sellout drive-in crowd as part of the Concerts In Your Car series. Local resident Susan Leonard reunited with the music legends decades after being on the band’s Good Vibrations Tour in the 1980s as the National Sunkist Girl. Leonard recalls that when Mike Love moved his family to Rancho Santa Fe, they became well known for caring about the community. Leonard coordinated Beach Boys concert benefits for the local schools, and the iconic group even donated usage of one of their top hits for a public service announcement she produced for an environmental nonprofit. Concerts In Your Car continues this month with a series of “Santa Save Christmas” live stage shows.
