La Jolla Community Center delivers meals to local seniors
Approximately 75 chef-prepared meals, desserts, fresh vegetables, and flowers were delivered by staff and volunteers.
The La Jolla Community Center spread cheer in the form of a meal delivery effort for seniors and members living alone. Approximately 75 chef-prepared meals, desserts, fresh vegetables, and flowers were delivered by staff and volunteers. A grant awarded by the San Diego Seniors Community Foundation, with underwriting and support from Derek Marso, owner of Valley Farm Market, Lori Roth of Yasukochi Family Farms, and chef Nikki Schaeffer, made the effort possible. “Our goal in the next year is to implement programs like this one to connect with isolated seniors and find ways to meet their needs with care and compassion,” says LJCC Executive Director Nancy Walters.
