Del Mar Country Club Golf Tournament and Dinner Gala raises money for SOF Support Foundation

More than $1.6 million was raised to support the SOF (Special Operations Forces) Support Foundation, including a $100,000 donation from world champion boxer Canelo Alvarez, who was in attendance at the Del Mar Country Club with his family. The gala featured a keynote by Former Defense Secretary and Green Beret Chris Miller, who was a key cog in the 5^th Special Forces Group, which worked closely with local Afghan leaders to put together a string of American victories at the outset of the war. David Beamer also spoke. His son, Todd, was one of the courageous passengers who stormed the cockpit of United Airlines Flight 93 on 9/11 after the now infamous words “Let’s Roll” were uttered. The SOF Support Foundation’s mission is to help ensure American special operations forces and their families receive the support they need to effectively carry out their operations, keep their families intact, and lead healthy and productive lives after they have left our nation’s service. Event co-chair was Dominique Plewes.
