Thankful for those who share our passion for philanthropic causes, Ranch & Coast Magazine wishes to express our gratitude for philanthropist Joan Waitt’s tireless partnership and dedication to multiple organizations, including Promises2Kids, a local nonprofit servicing the needs of foster children and providing support to those who have been removed from their homes due to abuse. As Waitt’s position on the board of directors at Promises2Kids has come to a close, the indelible mark she’s left on the organization and the long-lasting contributions she’s made will impact the lives of so many children well into the future. While with Promises2Kids, Waitt launched the annual Dream On Concert Gala at her La Jolla home — arguably one of the best events of the year with headliners including Bonnie Raitt, Pat Benatar, Kenny Loggins, Jewel, and the Doobie Brothers — which has raised over $3 million to help foster children. Promises also doubled in size, now each year supporting 100 children achieve their dreams of higher education, providing refuge for 1,800 children at the Polinsky Children’s Center, and through Camp Connect, reunifying over 400 brothers and sisters separated while in foster care. “Joan Waitt is an inspiration,” says Tonya Torosian, CEO of Promises2Kids. “Her love and compassion for foster children were reflected in everything she did as a board member. She is a leader and mentor and inspired the transformation of Promises2Kids to doubling it services to children. Although she has completed her board service, we will always be grateful for her work as a central part of Promises2Kids.” www.promises2kids.org

Joan Waitt is an inspiration and motivator to all who meet her. Her strong family values are evident, and her generosity exceeds most others. With Deb by her side, the two are a force of energy and are my heroes.
