A Better Luxury Home

A Better Luxury Home

A recent article in The Wall Street Journal titled “Luxury Homes That Are Better, Not Bigger” explained that high-end home buyers are shaving square footage off of their new homes, but not skimping on amenities. Current requests to real estate professionals include one-level living, higher quality finishes and upgrades, and less wasted space — no need for formal living and dining rooms.
One could argue that luxury homebuilder Richard Doan is ahead of the curve. The Rancho Santa Fe-based Doan just completed construction on a stunning 6,000-square-foot home now listed with Laura Barry of Barry Estates, Inc.
The clean-lined, one-level floor plan focuses on seamless indoor/outdoor living. Designed by architect Mark Radford with furnishings by Susan Spath of Kern & Co., no luxury or detail was overlooked. The home boasts wire-brushed French oak floors, hand-antiqued cabinetry, Viking appliances, Ralph Lauren lighting, and Fine Art Lamps, as well as four oversized bedroom suites, an executive office with custom built-ins and a plasma TV, a walk-in wet bar with pull-up slab stone counter and refrigerator wine unit, and a generous four-car garage and separate storage area with first class built-ins.

Making the most of our picturesque Southern California climate, an 800-square-foot outdoor living room complete with heat lamps, a flat screen TV, cooking area, lounge, and dining area overlook a resort pool and spa with three water features and a fire pit. Antique brick hardscape throughout the backyard complements lush landscaping and landscape lighting — truly an entertainer’s dream. (858.756.2266, www.laurabarryestates.com)
