Finding Bliss On 101
Located in Pacific Station next to Whole Foods in Downtown Encinitas, Bliss 101 is an enchanting new 3,500-square-foot store that offers high-end clothing, beach attire, gifts, one-of-a-kind furniture pieces, accessories, and more. Owner Helen Zeldes, who spent 22 years in Haleiwa, Hawaii, has instilled a peaceful tranquility that resonates throughout the shop. “As in Hawaii, here on Highway 101 in Encinitas, we love and respect the ocean and the environment. At Bliss 101 we strive to leave a positive impact on our local and global communities by supporting artists, craftspeople, and fair-trade collectives while focusing on reclaimed, recycled, and sustainable materials,” Zeldes notes. With a knack for finding unique and beautiful pieces, her carefully curated art gallery and boutique is filled with new finds waiting to be discovered.
Passionate about supporting the community, both globally and locally, Bliss 101 displays work from local artists and jewelry designers, mixed in with fair trade, sustainable items from Tahiti and Samoa, and other global locales. Polynesian jewelry mixes in with luxurious clothing, David Lloyd surf art, coconut wood goblets, and furniture crafted out of repurposed Balinese fishing boats to create a stunning environment you’d love to linger in. What’s more — Zeldes welcomes artists interested in displaying their work at Bliss 101, and nonprofits who’d like to partner on benefit events. (760/487-1900, www.bliss101.com) MIA STEFANKO
