House of Boutiques


“Small Shops, Big Shopping” is the slogan for House of Boutiques, the just-launched San Diego-based “e-tailer” that offers clothing and accessories from more than a dozen boutiques here at home and around the nation, from La Jolla’s hip Blended Industries to Bittersweet Boutique in Salem, Oregon. Founder and CEO Shannon Portnyagin offers a one-stop online shop for unique items, while enabling small, regional shops to compete on a larger scale. Jenn Motta, owner of the Encinitas boutique Icons, is sold on the concept. “It really simplifies the process of selling for the small boutique,” she says. “We have already had great success, and have only been selling on the site for a month.” Other local boutiques include Del Mar’s Julie’s Beachwear, Pebbles by the Beach, and La Boutique Les Deux; Galerie in Birdrock, and Jeffrey Parish’s edgy, “up-cycled” Junc Life & Style in South Park.
