On Friday, October 10, from 8am-2:30pm, the GIA presents its Open House, the one day of year that the campus is open to the public without appointment. View more than 20 stunning gem and jewelry pieces of historic and gemological significance side-by-side with their iconic photos in the “Beauty of Science” exhibit, as well as Jean Schlumberger’s Colombian emerald and diamond necklace with matching earrings designed for Tiffany & Co. in the 1950s. Schlumberger was noted for his often-whimsical interpretations of nature, and counted among his many high-profile clients the Duchess of Windsor, Gloria Vanderbilt, Elizabeth Taylor, and Jackie Kennedy.
