A New Look: La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club is ready for its close-up
A grand dame gets a glamorous make-over

Classic? Yes. Old-school? Not so much. Ushering in a new era for its 90th anniversary, the family-owned La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club has unveiled the first phase of its $60 million renovation courtesy of Los Angeles-based design firm Studio UNLTD.
The beachfront resort now features a transformed pool deck (glamours and timeless with striped scalloped umbrellas), revitalized outdoor gathering spaces and resurfaced tennis courts.
“The Beach Club has always been a place members treasure and visitors return to year after year, generation after generation,” says Michael O’Donohue, managing director of La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club.“The new spaces and updated amenities reflect what people have always loved about the Beach Club while adding more comfort, more connection and more reasons to keep coming back.”
Members and guests arriving at the beachfront resort will experience a more modern coastal flair. Splashy: Private pool cabanas, family lounges, and sleek chaise lounges. Even hotter: The wood-fired Marra Forni pizza oven churning out handcrafted pies in a lively, communal atmosphere. Meanwhile, a new indoor/outdoor market offers grab-and-go meals geared toward hotel rooms and picnics.
These additions follow the renovations of The Marine Room, and Walnut Lounge, an intimate enclave for happy hour and craft cocktails. The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club is a fifth-generation, family-owned and operated company.
