A Celebration to Remember

Known for its luxurious destinations worldwide, Auberge Resorts Collection steps up its bucket list factor this New Year’s Eve at Chileno Bay Resort & Residences in Cabo San Lucas. Guests can usher out the old and ring in the new with a five-course pairing at Comal, featuring regional cuisine by French Laundry alumnus Chef Yvan Mucharraz, or a three-course menu with cocktail pairings at the resort’s more casual Yaya, but the pièce de résistance will be when the legendary Buena Vista Social Club takes to the resort’s secluded La Playita for an intimate concert that is the final stop of a limited global concert series for the 12-piece Cuban orquesta, its only in North America. Rounding out the experience are hand-rolled cigars and special aged rum and tequila cocktails, plus bottle service and a Champagne toast at midnight. ¡Salud!

Golden Getaway

Thanks to its convenient Escondido address, Golden Door, one of the most renowned destination spas in the world, is but a short car ride away for us in San Diego. But what to do when your best friends from not-so-nearby want to join you on your weeklong wellness journey? Thanks to a new partnership with private jet charter company Latitude 33 Aviation, the answer is simple: The Golden Flight. For those non-locals, their retreat begins at their doorstep with private, luxury transportation to the tarmac at a partner airport, where a private plane awaits to whisk six to eight guests off, with a luxury car transfer to complete the trip to Golden Door. Once at the resort, the seven-night experience begins for the mind-body-spirit transformation that has made it a coveted luxury wellness destination for more than 60 years.

Dreams of Italy

If the almost 20-year-old movie Under the Tuscan Sun forever forged dreams of a magical, life-changing journey to the Italian countryside into your brain, you’re not alone, and luxury travel purveyor Scott Dunn is here for us. It recently added the boutique, 20-room Borgo Santo Pietro Hotel to its premium offerings. The converted 13th century Tuscan villa, complete with a Michelin-starred restaurant, Meo Modo, and a holistic spa, is exactly what those long-held dreams are made of. It’s also a perfect base from which to explore nearby Siena or, just a bit farther, Florence. Balance time on land with the addition of a Mediterranean sojourn on Satori, a 136-foot, five-bedroom, luxury sailing yacht boasting an eight-person crew, onboard spa facilities, water toys, and dining managed by the team from Meo Modo.
