The Escondido Creek Conservancy will celebrate 35 years of conservation with its “Welcome to the Watershed” hike series, a ridge-to-reef exploration highlighting the region’s natural landscapes and restoration efforts.

The program features guest speaker Richard W. Halsey, founder and director of the California Chaparral Institute, who will guide attendees through the history of the watershed, the ecology of chaparral habitats, and the importance of protecting open space. The milestone year also launches a major fundraising initiative, with a generous donor matching contributions up to $1 million to support land conservation and environmental education. The ongoing hike series offers opportunities to learn about habitat restoration while experiencing North County’s scenic terrain firsthand.
