Holiday teas offer a whimsical way to celebrate the season, and many local hotels are offering special celebrations for you and your family to enjoy. From fancy teddy bear teas for a cause to simple afternoon sipping, there’s something for every taste. So why not consider a new holiday tradition the whole family is sure to love?
L’Auberge Del Mar’s L’Tea by the Sea will be served in the Oceanview Lobby Living Room on Saturday, December 10 and 17, at noon and 2pm. Enjoy delectable treats including cinnamon scones, goat milk shortbread, and chocolate pomegranate tarts, along with savory dishes like Buffalo Deviled Egg, Cucumber Banh Mi, Blue Cheese Popover with duck confit, and Smoked Salmon Blini. Each Saturday and Sunday in December, Park Hyatt Aviara will offer Teddy Bear Tea in the Lobby Lounge, an exceptional tea experience for the whole family, complete with entertainment and storytelling by the “Peppermint Princess.” Each child is asked to bring a teddy bear to be donated to the Ronald McDonald House. The Fairmont Grand Del Mar is set to celebrate the season with two distinct holiday tea offerings. On Thursdays through Sundays December 1-25, the Holiday Bollinger Afternoon Tea features the resort’s elegant afternoon tea and a glass of Bollinger Champagne infused with holiday cheer. Champagne tea service starts at $65. Then, December 19-20, at 10:45am and 1:30pm both days, the 8th Annual Nutcracker Holiday Tea returns, bringing guests family-friendly tea service and a 45-minute abridged performance of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker ballet by the Scripps Performing Arts. Tickets are $82 for adults; $44 for children ages 4–11.
A portion of the ticket sales will go to Isabella’s Giraffe Club, a local nonprofit committed to providing emotional and educational support for parents with infants in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Taking place in the Westgate Room and Grand Lobby December 3-23 on select days, The Westgate Hotel’s Teddy Bear Tea is a magical afternoon tea with fresh house-made canapés and paninis, assorted pastries, tartlets, brownies, scones, and more. After teatime, children can enjoy spending time playing with Santa’s magician, then listening to a Christmas classic narrated by Santa Claus himself, followed by a special personal moment with Old Saint Nick. The Westgate Hotel also offers a Christmas-themed afternoon tea in The Bordeaux Tea Room December 2-23 on select days at 2:30pm.
