TMI 5K For Independence

Published

Toward Maximum Independence (TMI), a leading provider of comprehensive services for individuals living with a developmental disability, will launch its inaugural TMI 5K For Independence at 8am on Saturday, June 29, at Embarcadero Marina Park North. Former 10News anchor Carol LeBeau serves as honorary chair for the event, which will include run/walk opportunities for all ability levels, entertainment, fitness demos, a kid zone, awards ceremony, and more. “The TMI 5K For Independence is a big step for our organization not only in terms of fundraising but in sharing our clients’ inspiring stories with the community,” explains executive director Kirby Wohlander. “One of our biggest challenges is breaking down the misconception that people with disabilities are any less deserving of inclusion in society than people without disabilities.” All participants will receive an event T-shirt and goody bag, and top finishers in each age group will receive award recognition (participants with chip timers).  For more information, full event schedule, and to register, visit TMI5K.kintera.org.
