The Road To Healing With Naomi Judd

Published

Join entertainer, best-selling author, and patient advocate Naomi Judd on January 22, at 6pm, as she shares practical and innovative tools for recovery and health as well as her own triumphant story of finding a path to health.  At the pinnacle of her career, Naomi learned she had contracted Hepatitis C, a potentially fatal chronic liver disease, from an infected needle when she worked as a registered nurse. This cut short her musical career and forced her into early retirement to battle the disease.

Now fully recovered from Hepatitis C, she is passionate about advocating for people with chronic conditions, including persistent pain. She knows how debilitating pain can be and how it can impact the whole person — body, mind, and spirit — and the whole family. She has personally seen how it affected a dear friend who suffered excruciating pain from terminal pancreatic cancer. She also knows that managing pain effectively can change lives.

“That’s why I am speaking out — pain can and should be treated. For some people, pain may be inevitable, but suffering is optional,” says Naomi. “Untreated pain can interfere with everyday activities that most of us take for granted: going to work, driving a car, or even hugging your children or grandchildren.”

A book signing follows the seminar. Books will be available for sale. Early bird registration is $15 until January 15. Onsite registration is $20. The event will be held at the Paradise Point Resort in San Diego. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) project at Camp Pendleton. For more information or to register, call Scripps Conference Services and CME. (858/652-5400, med.edu@scrippshealth.org)
