Take A Walk On The Wild Side

Published

The polar bear is getting a little help from S.D. residents this year. Funds raised during the annual Walk on the Wild Side, taking place at 7:30am on October 10, benefit the San Diego Zoo’s polar bear conservation efforts. This 2.5-mile walk treats participants to a unique view of the zoo before it is open to the public as well as free admission that day. The family-friendly route takes walkers past flamingos, big cats, elephants, polar bears, and surprise animal guests along the way. Participants also receive an event T-shirt and goodie bag, and will enjoy post-event refreshments, more animal encounters presented by Joan Embery, keeper talks, and live entertainment, along with a special expo. Walkers can participate as individuals or as a team. Register by September 25 for a chance to win two Cheetah Run Safari tickets at the San Diego Zoo’s Wild Animal Park and a $5 discount. After September 25, registration is $30 for adults and $20 for children 15 years old and younger. (www.sandiegozoo.org/walk)   MIA STEFANKO
