Satisfy your sweet tooth with America’s Sweetest Race. RAM Racing presents the Hot Chocolate 15k/5k run on March 24, where nearly 20,000 participants “will run for chocolate” at Petco Park. The 5k is set to start at 6:45am; the 15k will start at 7:35am (start times subject to change). Registration is open. The 15k is $68; 5k is $48. All participants will receive men’s or women’s hooded sweatshirt and a finisher’s mug filled with chocolate treats.

Runners will start and finish in the Tailgate lot at the intersection of 14th and K Street. The race has a delicious race party featuring a Finisher’s Mug filled with hot chocolate, chocolate fondue and a plethora of yummy treats to dip.

The Hot Chocolate 15k/5k benefits San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House. “We are really excited to have the Hot Chocolate 15k/5k in San Diego for the second year in a row,” says Cheryl Haritatos, corporate and community development manager at San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House. “Runners will help provide a “home away from home” for families who have a child receiving treatment at a San Diego hospital. And, who doesn’t love chocolate?” Every night, more than a hundred moms, dads, brothers, and sisters find rest and renewal at San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House. There, families can sleep, eat, and take care of themselves as they care for a hospitalized child around the clock. Fundraisers like the Hot Chocolate 15/5k help ensure the Ronald McDonald House stays open to families in need.

The Hot Chocolate 15/5k Expo is much more than an ordinary packet pickup. Apart from receiving your race day bib and goodie bag, you will also enjoy: rockin’ tunes (dancing optional, though encouraged), a kid zone complete with bounce houses and games, official Hot Chocolate 15k/5k merchandise, chocolate, and hot cocoa samples. Race bibs and goody bags will only be distributed at the expo, which is located at the San Diego Concourse, (202 C Street) in San Diego.

Race organizers are encouraging participants and spectators to allow for heavy traffic, and to allow ample time to park. Complete parking directions and tips can be found online. (www.hotchocolate15k.com)
