United Way Community Breakfast

May 10, 2017

United Way of San Diego County’s inaugural “Changing the Odds Community Breakfast” from 7-9:30am will gather community partners, local businesses, and allies to help children be successful both inside and outside the classroom. At the San Diego Convention Center, attendees will hear from keynote speaker Liz Murray, author of Breaking Night, whose journey from homeless teen to Harvard graduate is a triumph over adversity that highlights the importance of dreaming big. The event’s honorary chair is Katherine Stuart Faulconer, founding president of Restaurant Events and wife of Mayor Kevin Faulconer.

For 97 years, United Way has been working to disrupt the cycle of poverty and to provide resources for underserved San Diegans to become self-sufficient, creating better lives for local children and their families. At the event, seven scholarships, presented by United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council, will be awarded to graduating seniors. Tickets are $75 each. Tables of ten start at $750. uwsd.org/breakfast
