Team Red White and Blue 5K/10K And Heroes Walk

Integrated Sports Marketing presents the inaugural 2014 Team Red White and Blue 5K/10K Heroes Walk on November 8 at Robb Field in Ocean Beach, with proceeds set to benefit Team Red, White and Blue. Team RWB, an all-volunteer organization, strives to enrich the lives of America’s veterans. With chapters and communities all over the country, Team RWB delivers consistent, local opportunities for veterans and the community to connect through physical and social activities that include weekly runs and hikes, monthly social events, and participation in local races.

Team RWB believes that the benefits of physical exercise can greatly improve a Veteran’s ability to cope with stress. “With that in mind and having such a large military and veteran population here, we wanted to create a fun and interactive event for our members and the community,” says Joshua Arnston, San Diego Team RWB Captain. The San Diego Chapter has been providing services to over 700 local veterans for more than two years. Founded in 2010, Team RWB has grown to over 50,000 member veterans nationally and is growing by 500 members nationwide every week.

Scheduled to appear at the event is Team RWB founder Mike Erwin, an active duty major in the US Army who developed a unique vision and strong culture within Team RWB — a culture of support, encouragement and inclusiveness for veterans. His vision was one that created a sense of camaraderie for veterans and their families struggling to integrate back into daily life after the brutality of war. Through Team RWB, Mike has encouraged veterans to build self-confidence and a feeling of belonging.

Taking place on Veterans Day Weekend, The 10k run will begin at 8am and the 5k will begin at 8:15am and will include a beautiful course along the water. After the race, there will be an awards ceremony for the top finishers, along with drinks, snacks, music and entertainment. Register online. (teamrwbrun.com/reg.html)
