L’Auberge Del Mar’s 3rd Annual Earth Day Paddle Out
L’Auberge Del Mar is celebrating Earth Day with a SoCal-style paddle out, as well as eco-friendly dining, cocktail, and spa specials. “At L’Auberge Del Mar, we strive to incorporate earth-friendly practices into our daily business wherever possible,” says general manager Shaun Beucler. “Celebrating Earth Day helps to remind us of the importance of our recycling, energy saving, and other ongoing green initiatives. It also allows our guests to share in our mission and be a part of these efforts, too.”
Ocean Preservation Paddle Out
L’Auberge Del Mar’s 3rd Annual Earth Day Paddle Out in honor of ocean preservation will take place on Wednesday, April 22, from 4:30-6:00pm, at Powerhouse Park, and will include the sunset and chef tasting snacks on the beach afterward. The community is invited to participate in the event and can bring their own boards or have the hotel concierge arrange for a board rental. Del Mar’s Fulcrum Surf will be joining the hotel at the event. (www.fulcrumsurf.com)
Executive chef Brandon Fortune continues to make his mark with organic and sustainable selections in Kitchen 1540 that celebrate the natural habitats of Mother Earth. For Earth Day Fortune has created a dish that will be offered to guests complimentary when dining for dinner on April 22. The creation is Organic Beets and (sustainable farm-raised) Cold-Smoked Trout with Watercress soup, valdeon bleu cheese, preserved lemon crème, and peppered walnuts.
In the Living Room Bar, savor ocean views while sipping the hotel’s eco-friendly L’Tini Cocktail. This refreshing “green” concoction is made entirely from organic ingredients. Using gin in place of vodka, the botanicals are a nice complement to the sweet basil and an introduction of red bell pepper adds an element of intrigue and good taste.
Botanical Facial Spa Special
Throughout the month of April, Spa L’Auberge is offering a special price for the Botanical Facial, which helps to rapidly improve skin tone, texture, and clarity while actively fighting free-radical damage. Using active ingredients such as grape stem cells, spirulina, kombucha, goji berry, white and green teas, food grade seaweed, aloe, and more, this service combats the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines associated with aging. A deep cleanse, tone, masque and moisturizer leaves skin with a healthy glow. The 50-minute treatment is specially priced at $125 during April. (The treatment uses Scientific Organic product in this facial, and for each product purchased, a tree is planted on behalf of the EmerginC team worldwide.)
Ongoing Green Initiatives
L’Auberge Del Mar is an active participant in the Destination Earth initiative, which Destination Hotels created to promote environmental sustainability through green teams and hotel best-practices. A sampling of the eco-friendly practices at L’Auberge Del Mar includes energy efficient lighting, organic spa products, recycling, linen re-use program, Read and Reuse Program, biodegradable “to go” boxes, and donation of used oil for Biodiesel fuel conversion. The property features charging stations for electric vehicles and also participates in the Clean the World program, which sterilizes and recycles soap and shampoo for underprivileged countries.
