Flower Hill Promenade hosts inBloom, an enchanting series of activities including butterfly encounters, all things floral, food and beverage workshops, multiple fashion shows, DIY classes, family movie nights, and much more. The center will be transformed into a floral wonderland, complete with additional vendors and experiences. “Flower Hill Promenade isn’t just a shopping center. It’s a lifestyle destination that we’ve designed to cater to the everyday needs of our customers,” says Jeffrey Essakow, managing partner of Protea Properties. “Our vision for inBloom is to provide new and memorable ways to eat, play, shop, learn, and connect with one another, while supporting some of our city’s most remarkable businesses and entrepreneurs.” Here are just a handful of the offerings available.

Highlights for Saturday, May 6 include: “Living Succulent Cakes by Shirley Bovshow,” from 10-11am; “Bringing the Spring Garden Inside – Cut Flowers Rearranged by Rene Van Remes” from 12:30-1:30pm; and “Let’s Make a Bonsai by David Patri,” from 6-8pm.

On May 6, 7, and 28, from 10am-12pm, “Playhouse Palooza,” featuring five uniquely themed playhouses designed and built by local teams of architects and builders. The event will also offer free activities including sing-alongs, a bubble show, face painting, and balloon artists. The playhouses are open all month.

Highlights for Sunday, May 7 include: “Edible Gardens by Urban Plantations,” from 10am-12pm; “The Well Seasoned Gardener by Sharon Lovejoy,” followed by a book signing,1-3pm; and “Build a Butterfly Garden by Urban Plantations,” from 1-3pm.

The evenings of May 12, 19, and 26, free “inBloom Movie Nights” invites families to grab some popcorn, cozy up, and enjoy a flick under the stars. Pick up a “Happy Hour” dinner to go at Venissimo Cheese.

Highlights for Saturday, May 13 include: “Boots inBloom by Bloom Babes,” from 10am-12pm; a “Dinosaur Rocks Presentation” from 10-11am and from 1-2pm; a “Wildflowers Fashion Show” from 12-1pm; “Contemporary Floral Design by Bloom Babes,” from 2-4pm; “Playing with Worms and Discovering Dirt Family Workshop by Urban Plantations,” from 2:30-4:30pm; “Driftwood Succulents by Infinite Succulents,” from 6-8pm; and “Parent’s Night Out @ If I Was A Bird Yoga,” from 6-8pm, which allows parents to drop off their child for yoga, art, and creative play while they attend a workshop or enjoy other dining or shopping around Flower Hill.

Gather the wonderful women in your life for a “Mother’s Day Tea Party” hosted by “Belle” from Beauty and the Beast on Sunday, May 14. Sip tea from fine china and delight in a selection of handmade scones, fruit, cookies and finger sandwiches. In addition, all mothers will receive a gift bag from Mini Market.

Turn a few stems of flowers, herbs, berries, or succulents into a charming flower headpiece on May 21 at “Flora Headpieces & Crowns by Debra Prinzing.” Learn two simple techniques for a “full circle” crown or a headband-style, ribbon-tied floral piece. Use fresh flowers, foliage, and other botanical elements to fashion a wearable hairpiece that reflects your personal style. Mimosas and hot tea included.

On May 27, at “The Wild Crafted Cocktail by Ellen Zachos,” guests can sip a selection of cocktails. Some of the selections include the dirty daylily martini, sumac infused gin, or rose hip liqueur. Learn how to combine foraged, local, seasonal, flavors with your favorite spirits. Create unique, wildcrafted cocktails, and you’re your own wildcrafted bitters to take home.

For fashion lovers, special runway shows on May 13 and 20 will feature looks from more than a dozen boutiques. Enjoy a visually stunning setting beneath a canopy of floating flowers in the east courtyard of the Row Collective. The event will showcasing the best in clothing and accessories for women and men, with emphasis on the extraordinary. An edgier nighttime fashion show on May 28 closes out the event to benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation. Tickets for this event must be secured through CAF directly.

From “Parent’s Night Out at If I Was a Bird Yoga” to “Make & Take Crafts hosted by Geppetto’s,” many other activities for kids and kids at heart abound throughout the entire month.
