Fit for a Princess

Fit for a Princess
The Princess Project San Diego hosts its 7th Annual Princess Project Runway on Thursday, March 5, from 6:30-9pm, a fundraiser to provide free prom dresses and accessories to high school girls in need. In this take-off on the hit TV show Project Runway, top students from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise will have an hour to create and drape the “must-have” prom dress for 2015. Local style experts will decide who is “in” or “out.” Event chairs are Yvette Gilman and Emily Michaelson, with Jodi Kodesh serving as emcee. The Princess Project also collects new or nearly new formal dresses and accessories for proms and spring events throughout San Diego. Last year, the nonprofit provided prom dresses to more than 1,500 teenage girls; this year the goal is 2,000. Check the project’s Web site for drop-off locations. (www.princessprojectsd.org)
