The National Cheers Foundation presents the inaugural celebration of its annual gala, FantaSea En Masque, at the Scripps Seaside Forum, on Saturday October 26. The evening will be one of mystery and magic for the mind, body, and spirit. This amazing event will not only capture the senses, but also the hearts of its attendees, as the organization has announced that the recipient of the 2013 Betty Barwise Page McLean grant will be Barnhart Cancer Center, Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center. This cancer treatment facility combines advanced technology with critical features that provide comfort and healing for cancer patients. The National Cheers Foundation grant will support the clinical health care and social support needs of women diagnosed with cancer in the low-income communities of South San Diego County, through the Patient Navigator Program, which provides critical supplies such as lymphedema supplies, bags, wigs and scarves, and transportation assistance.
The National Cheers Foundation is a nonprofit philanthropy dedicated to women of all generations. Its goal is to raise funds to support research and health institutions, health advocacy groups, and outreach programs, including its LifeLinks Educational series. Its mission is to empower women to live life fully with vitality, free from the five primary women’s health threats; heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis, auto-immune diseases, and mental health issues.
“Our goal is achieved through annual fundraising events, and includes support from wedding and event professionals, which is integral to our success,” says Anseth Richards, NCF board member and event designer. This unique partnership of event professionals donating their services to support NCF’s fundraising efforts provides the philanthropy with the ability to produce cost effective events, which in turn allows the majority of proceeds to directly fund approved grant requests. These “Joie de Vivre” grants will help finance the most urgent needs of women’s health institutions, research, health advocacy groups and outreach programs. (www.nationalcheersfoundation.org)
