Published

On Thursday, October 24, at 5:30pm, at Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine, Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County presents its signature fundraising event, which will recognize this year’s “Person of the Year,” James Brennan, CEO of Enlightened Hospitality Group and co-founder of Suja Juice. Brennan, a former Big Brother, is also a longtime board member of BBBS of SDC. Brennan also co-founded the BBBS San Diego Young Professionals Committee and is known for his active community involvement and philanthropy.

The night begins with a trademark cocktail and seafood reception, sponsored by Donovan’s Steak & Chop House and Donovan’s Prime Seafood, including a hosted bar, seafood hors d’oeuvres, and a silent auction with 50 irresistible items. Guests will enjoy a sensational program, emceed by Brian Malarkey, executive chef/partner of Searsucker, Herringbone and Gabardine; winning judge on ABC’s The Taste; and past Top Chef finalist.

Proceeds will support the organization’s mission of providing children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better. A successful evening means funding for more children to be matched with a caring adult role model, giving children in our community the means they need to succeed. Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County provided mentors to over 1,700 children in 2012. (www.sdbigs.org)
