We couldn't find that.
Let's go back home and try again.

Summer Sizzle

On June 27, the San Diego Symphony’s Summer Pops kicks off the season with a contempo-stylish Tux ’N‘ Tennies gala, which this year features Gladys Knight. So, don your tux and wear those tennies to this casual, but elegant affair. After all, bow ties go well with Bermuda shorts, don’t they? The whole idea is to mix it up and have fun. So, ride the “Midnight Train to Georgia” while sitting bayside.

The multi-talented Marvin Hamlisch leads the Pops on July 3, 4, and 5, offering a traditional holiday weekend of Americana tunes, Broadway hits, marches, a salute to the military, and topping it all with fabulous fireworks.

Dionne Warwick’s signature voice and style take the stage July 10 and 11, and her performance promises to be a musical home run. “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again,” “Walk on By,” and “Alfie” are only a few of the songs she, and many in the audience, will revisit.

These are but a few of the scheduled performances at this year’s Summer Pops, where the beautiful setting, good company, and talented performers are sure to ease any worries. (619/235-0804, www.sandiegosymphony.com)   DARLENE G. DAVIES
