Romeo And Juliet

Published

May 11-13, City Ballet of San Diego closes its 19th season with a lavish production of Romeo and Juliet. This world premiere by resident choreographer Elizabeth Wistrich of Shakespeare’s epic tale offers ballet storytelling at its best. Wistrich performed John Cranko’s version during her tenure at Stuttgart Ballet. For City Ballet of San Diego, she will be assisted by company member Geoffrey Gonzalez and fencing master Edwin Hurst for the sword fighting scenes. With sweeping regal ballroom scenes, realistic sword fights, and a poignant pas de deux, City Ballet’s production will be a feast for the eyes. Enjoy bold theatrics by a cast of over 50 dancers, accompanied by the City Ballet Orchestra with John Nettles conducting. Romeo and Juliet is a production not to be missed on Mother’s Day weekend.
