How Women Made The West
It’s no secret women have made huge contributions to our culture. Now, a new exhibit brings an enlarged perspective to the subject. Home Lands: How Women Made The West is an exhibition at the Autry National Center in Los Angeles that focuses on women of various historical periods and how they shaped the physical and cultural environments of the West. Objects in the show, on view through August 22, cover more than 1,200 years, and range from a 750-1150 A.D. grinding stone to a mid-20th century station wagon, and much more. Contemporary works of art by women are on display, as well. (323/667-2000, www.theautry.org) DARLENE G. DAVIES
