Globe Gems

Published

December is the month for theatre at The Old Globe. A December 7 black tie gala inaugurates the new Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre at the Globe complex. This glamorous fundraiser will feature stars of Broadway’s South Pacific, Kelli O’Hara and Paulo Szot, singing their hearts out in the state-of-the-art arena that has replaced the Cassius Carter Centre Stage. Then, on December 12, a special holiday limited engagement of I Do! I Do! opens and plays through December 20. The super talented real-life couple Paige Davis and Patrick Page perform in this musical, which was originally a star vehicle on Broadway for Mary Martin and Robert Preston. Meanwhile, an open house highlighting the new White Theatre will be held December 12 from 9am-1pm. The theatre is housed within the larger, just completed Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Warning: the tour is impressive. And all the while, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas continues to entrance theatergoers throughout the month.
