Claude Monet: Impressions Of Light

Published

There are historical ties between the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego and the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art in Las Vegas. In the past, MCASD and Bellagio have collaborated to present carefully selected and curated pieces from MCASD’s collection, and San Diego art collectors have journeyed to Las Vegas to participate. Now, masterfully painted works by Claude Monet are on view at Bellagio, this time from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Also included are works by Camille Pissarro, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, and Eugene Louis Boudin. The paintings are perfectly beautiful, evoking reflection.

Claude Monet: Impressions of Light provides a window to a time that celebrated nature through use of color and light. Monet rejected traditional landscape painting styles and techniques, and concentrated, instead, on capturing impressions of scenes. But impressions shifted as light changed. Thus, he created series on various visual subjects. This exquisite exhibition remains at the Bellagio until January 2013. (702/693-7871, www.bellagio.com)   DARLENE G. DAVIES
