Brush With Genius

The newly renovated IMAX Dome Theater of the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center is featuring a remarkable film about the life and paintings of Vincent Van Gogh. Based upon more than 900 personal letters, the story is revealed through the eyes of the artist, allowing viewers to take in the breathtaking landscapes and vivid colors of Van Gogh’s most celebrated paintings. Between the ages of 27 and 37, Van Gogh painted his first works and his final masterpieces in a decade filled with explosive activity that culminated in his tragic early death. IMAX technology brings out exceptional vibrancy in his works, whether the depiction of the famous cornfields or deep blue night sky. Creators Peter Knapp and Francois Bertrand produced the film in cooperation with the Van Gogh Museum, Musee d’Orsay, and the Kroller-Muller Museum. Van Gogh: Brush With Genius follows the artist’s path on a visual journey from the Netherlands to Auvers-sur-Oise, through Arles, Saint-Remy, and Paris. (619/238-1233, www.rhfleet.org)   DARLENE G.
