3rd Annual Explore Salk
Join the Salk Institute for a day of scientific exploration at the third annual Explore Salk on April 11. This once-a-year opportunity invites guests to take a peek inside the research center founded by Jonas Salk and experience one of San Diego’s most prominent architectural sites. Activities include behind-the-scenes guided lab tours, self-guided architectural tours, and scientific talks presented by Salk’s distinguished researchers. The day begins with the opening of the science booths and Kids’ Discovery Zone at 10am followed by the first lab tours at 10:30am. An interactive family forum starts at 10:45 am for youth who have an interest in science. It’s an excellent opportunity to hear about a career in science and ask questions. In the afternoon, Salk professor Saket Navlakha will give a talk titled, How Biology Solves Technology Problems. The day will conclude with guest speaker, Eric Topol, professor at Scripps Research Institute, giving a talk titled, The Patient Will See You Now – The Future of Medicine is in Your Hands.
