San Diego Center For Children Academy
San Diego Center For Children Academy
The San Diego Center for Children Academy offers students with autism, learning differences, and emotional challenges a caring, supportive, and structured learning environment for personal growth and academic success. The K-12 school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and offers tailored programs to support individual needs. Students participate in core academic subjects as well as those developed to enrich each child’s experience: remedial reading program, music, sports, transition/life skills, speech/language therapy, social skills, occupational therapy, and individual therapy.
Staff and administrators rely on positive behavioral support models when interacting with students, and are trained in leading programs including PeaceBuilders and Collaborative Problem Solving. Students learn to use successful techniques to handle challenges, frustrations, and conflict. In addition, the academy utilizes the Olweus Anti-Bullying Program to encourage kids to recognize and accept differences in others.
The mission of the academy is to provide a safe, supportive environment that nurtures students through academics and therapy, and prepares them for integration into the global community.
