The San Diego Padres, in conjunction with the Padres Foundation, welcomed 580 guests to dine on the Petco Park playing field for the club’s second annual Dinner on the Diamond presented by Sycuan Casino Resort. The impactful evening featured a first-class dinner alongside Padres ownership, players, coaches, and alumni; a cocktail hour, special games, interviews featuring Padres players, and a musical performance by Ashanti and Ja Rule.
The event program was emceed by Padres broadcasters Don Orsillo and Mark Grant, which included a special game of Family Feud on the stage featuring four Padres pitchers against four Padres position players. Guests were given the opportunity to participate in a live auction to secure the fifth spot on each of the two teams. Proceeds were quadrupled thanks to matching funds by three entities — the Padres Foundation, Lucky Duck Foundation, and a group of Padres players led by Manny Machado, Joe Musgrove, and Yu Darvish. The Padres Foundation announced a total of $1 million raised for homelessness at the event; with $500,000 raised for Urban Street Angels and Youth Assistance Coalition, and an additional $500,000 commitment to ending homelessness.
