Gillispie School supporters gathered at downtown San Diego’s House of Blues for the school’s annual gala, this year entitled “The Big Easy Bash for Gillispie.” Co–chaired by Gillispie parents Natasha Porlas and Chris Hedgecock, “The Big Easy Bash for Gillispie” featured live music from Grammy Award–winning saxophonist Ryan Montana, a sumptuous Cajun feast by House of Blues, and a live auction featuring stunning art created by each grade level, as well as exclusive experiences such as trips to New Orleans, Mammoth, and Hollister Ranch. The highest bid went for a private dinner at the chef’s table at Brian Malarkey’s new restaurant in Little Italy, Herb & Wood. Head of School Alison Fleming says, “The School is incredibly lucky to have a cadre of volunteers who make this event happen. Not only do these funds directly impact what we are able to do with our scholarship funds, our grounds, and our programs, but the planning and implementation of the event is a bonding experience for all involved. The night proved to be a fantastic celebration of our School and our community.”
